1998 saw our club compete in the Tony Fox Junior League and the Tommy
McGarvey Junior Championship. For the second year running we entered
an U-12 team and for the first time U-14 and U-16 teams were established
within the club. A total of 69 members were registered with Sperrin
îg in 1998.
For the
first part of the 1998 season the senior team was under the management
of Séan Donaghy. Unfortunately due to other commitments Séan
decided to resign as manager. It was at this stage that Mo Bradley from
Greencastle was introduced as Manger to the team. Overall the team secured
a total of 11 points out of a possible 20.
Peggy McCullagh
managed the U-16's allowing the team to participate in the Elaine Treanor
Juvenile League and the Kelly's Inn Juvenile Championship. They secured
a total of 2 points out of a possible 6.
Séan
Carlin took charge of the U-14 team. They managed to secure a total
of 4 points out of a possible 6.
Mena
Tuohey undertook the task of training and managing the U-12 group. The
girls participated in Group B of the U-12 Section in which they completed
a series of 5 games. On their way they defeated such team as Carrickmore,
Badoney, Beragh, Dromore and Aghayarn taking them to the semi-finals
were Fintona narrowly beat them.
The 1998
season concluded with a joint Dinner Dance with Greencastle G.F.C in
the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown. The following presentations were made
