.: HISTORY

Sperrin Óg celebrated 10 years of playing in the Tyrone County League in 2001. This was the same year that the club first won a major senior title, by lifting the Division III League Shield. The Senior team went on to emulate that achievement in 2002 by winning both the Division II League and Intermediate Championship title.

.: 2000

The new Millennium saw Sperrin Óg back in action with a senior panel under the management of Tommy McDermott from Greencastle. The Senior team competed in the Division 3 League and Brenda Logue Championship. Along the way we met and beat such teams as Eoghain Rua, Glenelly and Castlederg. This unfortunately was not enough to earn us a League title, however third from the top was not bad. Overall we secured a total of 12 points out of a possible 20. The seniors also made it to the Semi-Final of the Championship but were unfortunately beaten by Galbally.

Peggy and Patricia McCullagh trained and managed the Minor Team in 2000. The Minors had a total of 3 games in the League, which they won and earned a place in the Semi-Final of the League where they met and were defeated by Drumquin ending their hopes of League success for 2000. However the Minors still had the Championship to look forward to in which they got to the Final after beating Moy and Badoney. In the Final they again, unfortunately, met and were defeated by Drumquin.

The U-16's had a great year under the management of Cathy Teague, Ciara Morris, and Briege Beggs. In the League they secured a total of 10 points out of a possible 14. The Championship campaign was very successful for the U-16's. They got to the Final and met Omagh St Enda's. The girls displayed great skill and determination to the final whistle of the game, but unfortunately were beat by 1 point.

Maureen Glass undertook training and managing of the U-13 group. The girls participated in the Grade One of the Tyrone Crystal League in which they competed in a series of 7 games. On their way they defeated such teams as St Endas, Dromore, Carrickmore, Drumquin and are undoubtedly a team to look out for.
